Reflections on the Relationship Between the Norms of Argumentation
The Munazara and Argumentation Ethics Research Center is proud to host Dr. Katharina Stevens, Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Lethbridge for an online talk 'Reflections on the Relationship Between the Norms of Argumentation'. In this talk, Dr. Stevens will discuss her work and explore potential issues of argumentation norms on the Munazara tradition.
Dr. Katharina Stevens is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Lethbridge, where she holds a Board of Governors Tier II Research Chair in the Ethics of Argumentation. She is one of the co-editors in chief of the Canadian Argumentation Theory journal Informal Logic. She has co-edited the Topoi special issue on Adversariality in Argumentation. Currently, she is co-editing a special issue of Ethical Theory and Moral Practice on the Ethics of Argumentation and a special section of Philosophy & Rhetoric on Autonomy and Argumentation. She is a co-organizer of the Interdisciplinary Speaker Series on the Ethics of Argumentation, which is now in its third year (https://www.argnet.org/ethics-of-arg). She has written extensively on adversariality in argument, virtue in argument, argument ethics, roles and role-taking in argument and the moral dimension of dialogue-types and dialogue shifts.
